Snow in the 'Terra Sancta'

Now that the marking period is over I've been catching up on my backlogged science reading...

You may remember in the news about 1.5 weeks ago, that parts of the Holy Land were literally buried in snow, a lot of snow.  While some very limited higher elevation areas of the Holy Land usually see a bit of snow each winter, it's usually not nearly this much!
